Capturing the right tone—a mix of grit, grime, and the raw energy of a small-town underground world—was a powerful creative challenge. Beneath all the dirt, there’s a fragile, broken beauty I’m always drawn to. The bond between the three siblings was deeply emotional yet tainted by their struggle to survive through street-level drug dealing. I wanted the sound design to reflect their loneliness, their longing for something better, and the quiet moments when they comforted each other in their darkest, most vulnerable times.
This project marked my first collaboration with Page Hamilton, whose visceral, fearless approach helped define the tone. He has a gift for revealing beauty in the ugly, and strangeness in the simplest chords. It was a revealing and deeply rewarding experience—one that shaped my sound and paved the way for many collaborations to come.
